Dock Parts & Waterfront Fencing near Fresno, CA

Fresno is a long way from the ocean, but there is more waterfront around here than people expect: cabins and lake lots at Shaver Lake and Bass Lake, homes along the Kings River near Reedley and Kingsburg, river frontage on the San Joaquin, and ponds on farms and ranches. We supply dock hardware and build the fencing and railing that goes with a dock or a bank, such as gangway rails, gates at the head of a ramp and barrier fence along a drop to the water.

Fresh water is kinder to metal than salt, but the conditions here are hard in their own way. Foothill reservoirs rise and fall by many feet between spring and fall, so docks float and ramps hinge, and every connection moves. Summer sun bakes exposed parts, and river banks are sandy and can wash out in a wet winter. We choose galvanized or stainless hardware and aluminum rail for these jobs, and we set shore posts deeper than we would for a yard fence.

Who is allowed to build what on the water is not ours to decide. Lakes and rivers here are controlled by a mix of agencies, utilities and private associations, and each has its own rules for docks, railings and anything set in the bank. Get the owner or managing agency's answer in writing first. Once you know what is permitted, call us with the dimensions and photos, and we will tell you which parts we can supply and install.

Dock parts in Fresno: common questions

Do you build whole docks?

Our work is the hardware and the fence and rail side: brackets, hinges, cleats, gangway railings, gates and barrier fencing at the bank. For the float or the structure itself, ask us and we will tell you honestly whether it is a job for us or for a dock builder.

What metal holds up best on a lake dock?

Aluminum for rails and gangways, and hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel for hardware. All three stand up to fresh water and sun. Plain painted steel rusts at every scratch.

Do I need permission to add a railing or gate at my dock?

Usually yes. The agency, utility or association that controls the lake or river sets the rules, and a county permit may also apply. Ask them before ordering anything.
