Cages & Enclosures in Fresno, CA

Not everything that needs a fence is outdoors. We build chain link and welded wire cages for storage and security inside warehouses, shops, parking garages and apartment buildings: tenant storage lockers, tool cribs, parts rooms, server and electrical rooms, and stock areas that need to be locked while the rest of the floor stays open. Wire partitions let light, air and fire sprinklers work through them, which a solid wall does not.

Outdoors, the most common request in the Fresno area is a cage around equipment. Air conditioning units, backflow preventers, irrigation pumps and electrical panels are targets for metal theft, and replacing a stripped unit in the middle of summer costs far more than the cage would have. An equipment cage has a framed top as well as sides, a lockable gate large enough for a technician to work through, and clearance around the unit so it can still breathe.

Each cage is built to the space. We measure the opening, the ceiling height and anything that runs through the area, such as pipes, ducts and conduit, and frame around them. Posts are anchored to the slab indoors or set in concrete outdoors. Doors can be swinging or sliding, with padlock hasps or keyed locks. If the cage is around a meter, a backflow device or a fire valve, the utility or the fire department may need access, so we ask about that first.

Cages & enclosures in Fresno: common questions

Will a cage around my air conditioner hurt how it runs?

Not if it is sized properly. The unit needs open space on every side and above it to move air. We keep the mesh back from the coil and leave a gate big enough for service.

Can a storage cage have a top?

Yes. A wire mesh top stops people climbing over and still lets ceiling lights and fire sprinklers do their job. For tenant storage and anything valuable, a top is worth having.

Do cages need a permit?

A simple wire partition often does not, but it must not block exits, sprinklers or access to meters and valves. Building owners and fire inspectors have a say. For anything in a common area, check with the building owner and the fire department before we build.
